Wiki Version:
This study is a conceptual replication study of Phillips & Boroditsky (2003) about the effects of grammatical gender on people’s perceptions of similarity. We compared the effect of grammatical gender on Indonesian - German bilinguals in rating similarity between two objects that has the same gender or different gender in German language. As in the original study, we predict the bilinguals would judge objects more similar if they have same gender and less similar if they have different gender when tested in German, but not when tested in Indonesian. Phillips, W., & Boroditsky, L. (2003). Can quirks of grammar affect the way you think? Grammatical gender and object concepts.
