The dataset contains hardness measures of *Sacoglottis gabonensis* seeds from three sample groups: 1. Seeds discarded by adult male *Cercocebus atys* after an initial crushing attempt. 2. Seeds discarded by adult female *Cercocebus atys* following an initial crushing attempt. 3. A random sample group of seeds collected from the forest floor. Seeds were collected in Tai National Park, Cote d'Ivoire in 2017 by Elise Geissler. Each seed was measured three times using a Shore-D durometer and measurements are reported in their raw form.
