Wiki Version:
This week was the end of the month, so it was my first time using a larger canvas size. My goal this week was to simply convey an accurate three dimensional image on a larger canvas, because I do struggle with it on smaller surfaces, so I wanted to attempt to do it believably on a larger one. Monday was not sunny, but it was dry, so I was able to stand in front of the elephant exhibit and draw the animal. I wanted to do the clouded leopards, but they did not stay in their outer exhibit for more than a few minutes, so I drew the elephants instead. I did move at one point from my original spot to the other side because the elephant moved, but the rest of the time was spent in one area. Wednesday was also sunny for which I was very grateful, and I got to watch the elephant play with a ball that it had in the exhibit. After having the composition set up on Monday with mostly an F or B pencil, I was able to go in and add value to the drawing. I spent most of the 1 hour 20 min there working, and then at home I have spent time filling it in further with 3-8B pencils.
