# **Abstract** --- #### **URE Questions Addressed** What is the role of cultural exchanges in evidence-based practice implementation? #### **Instrument Origins** Item generation and domain identification proceeded in four phases: 1. The research team developed a set of questions based on a review of the literature on social and knowledge exchange and interorganizational collaboration. 2. Interview and focus group data were collected from 64 California child welfare directors, probation officers, and mental health department directors or consultants. 3. Videotapes of CDT (Community and Development Teams) meetings were analyzed by members of the research team. 4. Items were developed based on information gathered. #### **Range of Application** The instrument is appropriate for any context involving collaborations or any form of interaction between two or more individuals or organizations. It extends the focus from exchange of knowledge to exchange of attitudes and behaviors. The focus of collaborations does not necessarily have to involve implementing evidence-based practices, but they can focus on exchanges between knowledge producers and consumers. #### **Target Respondents(s)** The survey is intended for knowledge producers and consumers, researchers, and practitioners/policymakers. #### **Number and Format of Items** 15 7-point Likert-scale items #### **Scales/Domains and Subscales/Subdomains** 2 scales - Exchange Process (7 items) and Exchange Output (8 items) #### **Administration Mode** Web-based #### **Analytic Methods** Descriptives (refer to [validation/use protocol][1]) #### **Primary Source(s) for This Method** Palinkas, L.
