Wiki Version:
We surveyed 392 sexual minority participants who self-identified as substance users, including 70 of whom also identified as a gender minority. We found an indirect relationship between minority stress and substance use through anxiety/depression and PTSD using a serial mediation analysis; such that minority stress positively predicted anxiety/depression symptoms. Anxiety/depression symptoms predicted PTSD and in turn, predicted substance use in sexual minorities.
