Our investigation includes the population of articles of interest, not a random sample. All articles published between January 2012 - May 2015 in <em>Psychological Science</em>, <em> Clinical Psychological Science</em>, <em>Journal of Personality and Social Psychology</em>, and <em>Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory, and Cognition</em> will be coded as a part of this research effort. As such, we will report descriptive statistics without inferential tests, with a focus on showing results by year and by journal for the following: - proportion of articles with availability statement for data and/or materials - proportion of articles with open data and/or materials badge awarded - breakdown of reported methods for accessing data and/or materials We will report descriptive statistics of the following variables for articles with accessible data or materials: - means by which data and/or materials were originally made available - actual availability of accessible data and/or materials - correctness of accessible data and/or materials - usability of accessible data and/or materials - completeness of accessible data and/or materials Articles coded by volunteers as anything other than an empirical report (ie. theoretical reviews, editorials, or commentaries) will be excluded from these analyses because data and material sharing is not relevant for those papers. We originally [preregistered][1] an additional investigation involving reaching out to authors to evaluate accessibility of data or materials that were not shared upon publication. We planned to analyze the means of the following variables for articles without accessible data or materials after corresponding with the original author: - data and/or materials provided - response for data and/or materials - amount of time required to prepare data and/or materials sharing However, this data collection was postponed due to present infeasibility.
