Is there a lack of consensus on the definition of self-esteem? One-hundred
and twelve definitions were extracted from 367 articles on self-esteem
published in prominent journals of personality and social psychology
between 2004 and 2015. Our analysis suggests that nine definitions of the
construct were in use during this time period.
