### Ethnical Discrimination in Europe: Field Evidence from the Finance Industry Matthias Stefan, Felix Holzmeister, Alexander Müllauer and Michael Kirchler <br/> #### Data Description * Raw data is available as `Data (Adj. Raw).xlsx` in the `Data` directory. * List of variables: * `treatment`: 1 = Domestic/Loan; 2 = Domestic/Investment; 3 = Foreign/Loan; 4 = Foreign/Investment * `ethnicity`: 0 = Domestic; 1 = Foreign * `type`: 0 = Loan; 1 = Investment * `country`: AUT = Austria; BEL = Belgium; DEN = Denmark; FIN = Finland; GER = Germany; NED = Netherlands; SWE = Sweden * `inhabitants`: number of inhabitants * `send_timestamp`: time of e-mail sent * `response`: 0 = no response received; 1 = response received * `response_timestamp`: time of received response * `mail_error`: 0 = no mail error message received; 1 = mail error message received * The uploaded data file ensures full confidentiality and anonymity. For this reason, variables like `province`, `city`, `bank_name` and `e-mail` have been removed from the raw data set. Though, all results reported in the paper and supplementary information can be replicated from the available data. <br/> ## Data Processing * Stata `*.do-files` for data processing are availabe in the `Scripts` directory. * `01 - Data Processing.do` prepares the data for further analysis. In particular, the file creates processed data files (`Data.xlsx`, `Data.dta`) in the folder `Data`. * `02 - Main Results.do` includes all analyses reported in the main paper. Results are logged and prepared as output files in the `Results` directory. * `03 - Supplementary Results.do` includes additional results reported in the SI. Results are logged and prepared as output files in the `Results` directory. * `04 - Figures.do` creates the figures as they are included in the paper and the SI. Figures are exported to the `Figures` directory as `*.gph`, `*.eps`, and `*.png` files. * All files should be self-explanatory and the respective data analysis is described in comments. * The script files can be executed without adapting files or working directories (relative paths). To ensure proper execution of scripts, the following folder structure should be maintained: * `Data` * `Figures` * `Results` * `Scripts`
