Wiki Version:
This is a 12-country survey examining how people understand sustainability, using the "three-pillar" framework of environmental, social, and economic sustainability. While the focus is on the nature of these understandings, we also included measures of support for sustainability to understand if there were differences between understandings and support. It is an exploratory study without specific hypotheses. The survey also included a measure of people's views about societal change in order to conduct a small-scale cross-cultural validation of these measures. It was testing a 5-factor model with four items per factor. It also includes a new measure developed to examine people's ideals about wealth ("ideal life lottery"). This project was posted after data was collected.
