This study investigates the meaning incorporated in Maltese consonantal roots using the Linear Discriminative Learning model. Our model is able to comprehend and produce Maltese verb forms. We used measures from the model (prime support and pre-activation distance) to predict the response latencies of a masked auditory priming experiment on Maltese verb forms based on distributional representations of meaning. Our results suggest that the meaning of roots emerges from sentential contexts in which word forms are used.
