This data file contains the source data for the reflection interpreted to represent the subduction megathrust in the paper "Subduction megathrust heterogeneity characterized from 3-D seismic data" by Kirkpatrick et al. (2020; *Nature Geoscience*, https://doi.org/10.1038/s41561-020-0562-9).
This reflection was extracted from the processed 3D volume of multi-channel seismic data collected offshore western Costa Rica during R/V Marcus G. where x, y are UTM coordinates, z is depth below sea level, r,g,b are colors corresponding to depth below sea level, a is the reflection amplitude, and h is the depth below sea floor. x,y,z coordinates have been rotated so that the mean plane through the reflection is horizontal.
