Wiki Version:
Original records were obtained via New York State (NYS) Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) request to NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) on 2014-02-25, pursuant to [Public Officer's Law, Article 6, Section 84-90](https://www.dos.ny.gov/coog/foil2.html). Therefore there is no licensing restriction on the data. I processed these records for my PhD research on taxi transportation, as well as a few journal papers. To support open science and data reuse, here I share these data under [CC BY 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). Data attributes: - ID: TPEP vendor, medallion and hack (driver) licenses; - Space & time: pickup and drop-off GPS coordinates and time stamps; - Trip: fare rate, passenger count, trip distance and duration, signal flag; - Fares: fare, surcharge, tax, toll, tip, total, payment type; Data processing levels: 1. Level 0: original records; 2. Level 1: reconstructed records with correct syntax; 3. Level 2: clean data; Data dictionary provides detailed metadata on these files.
