Wiki Version:
Expectations ------------ We expect a small effect that should significantly differ from zero when all data from the replication reports are pooled. In individual replication reports, the effect might fail to reach statistical significance. We expect the effect size to be substantially smaller (about d = 0.3) than the effect size reported in the most recent meta-analysis (d = 0.62) as recent analyses suggest that this effect size has been overestimated due to small-study effects (Carter & McCullough, 2014). We are not able to predict whether the effect sizes should be larger on any of the two dependent measures. We agree that RTV might be more sensitive to a specific type of attentional control lapse, but we do not know whether this kind of lapse has driven the results reported in previous studies on ego depletion.
