Description: Guided by the theory of constructed emotion, we developed a multidimensional self-report measure of people’s beliefs about the role of their bodily sensations in emotion. The resulting 22-item Body Signal Beliefs Questionnaire (BSBQ) demonstrated good reliability and discriminant validity from established measures. Furthermore, our findings suggest that beliefs about the meaning of bodily sensations uniquely predict emotion. This project was presented at the 2021 annual meeting of the Society for Affective Science.
