This task investigated whether, in addition to novel metonymic labels for objects, participants are also able to produce metonymic names for story characters, by exploiting the relationship between an individual and his/her distinctive features. In the task, we manipulated two factors: (i) the amount of time participants had to respond (no time limit vs 20 seconds time limit), and (ii) whether or not participants were exposed to examples of metonymic names prior to beginning the task.
