## Detection Models ##
This wiki contains questions related to modeling the detectability of marine mammals during scientific surveys. Most members of our team have focused on modeling marine mammal densities over large spatial extents (100s-1000s km) of marine waters of the United States, mostly by applying methods derived from [distance sampling][1] to visual line transect surveys conducted from ships and aircraft. The kinds of questions that appear here reflect this focus.
The questions and their answers are grouped by topic. Select a topic below or from the alphabetical list in the left navigation bar.
- [Minimum number of sightings][2]
- [Heaped distances][3]
- [Pooling sightings][4]
- [Detection function covariates][5]
- [Detection function diagnostics][6]
- [g(0)<1 problem][7]
- [Perception bias][8]
- [Availability bias][9]
