Description: The goals of the Diabetes Mental Health Initiative are threefold: (1) to support interdisciplinary quantitative and qualitative social and behavioral science research on the complex ways that mental health intersects with diabetes risk, self-management, and prognosis across the lifespan; (2) to support the development, adoption, and dissemination of integrative approaches to mental health promotion for persons living with diabetes in a range of clinical and community settings; (3) to accelerate interdisciplinary, integrative research on how psychological, social, and behavioral factors influence diabetes risk, prognosis, and outcomes in the US and globally. This project will use an explanatory sequential design to analyze the mental health needs, experiences, and psychological care gaps for persons with diabetes (PWD) treated at Michigan Medicine.
