Description: A longitudinal project that aims to investigate how the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic affects the relation between episodic future thoughts and personal goals. Episodic future thinking is defined as the ability to mentally project oneself into the future and to pre-experience an event (Atance & O´Neill, 2001). Research indicates that the construction and organization of episodic future thoughts are closely related to personal goals (D´Argembeau, 2016). However, it is not yet fully understood how personal goals shape and affect the representation of future events. The present research project aims to examine this relation. Additionally, it investigates the potential impact that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic might have on the goals individuals have in their life, and on their representations of goal-related future events.
