**To what extent do fish passage facilities and culverts allow upstream and downstream passage of fish at barriers?** This project is funded by [Fisheries and Oceans Canada][1] (DFO) and is led by members of the [Canadian Centre for Evidence-Based Conservation and Environmental Management (CEBCEM)][2] based at [Carleton University][3] (Ottawa, ON). This systematic review will be highly relevant to environmental practitioners (including engineers and ecologists working for industry and government) tasked with determining if, when, where, and how fish passage facilities and culverts should be incorporated into barriers. Moreover, the knowledge gaps identified in the review and insight gained on what constitutes a “quality” study will be relevant to scientists and funders.
