Wiki Version:
The purpose of this study is to replicate the strictest test of the 'mistaking change in the self for change in the world', study 4 from Eibach et al., 2003. This will be done in a large sample of respondents from across the United States (N=1500) drawn in a stratified way with unequal probabilities of selection, so that the people who complete each survey will resemble the nation's adult population (according to the most recently available Current Population Survey, conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau) in terms of gender, age, education, ethnicity (Hispanic vs. not), race (allowing each respondent to select more than one race), region, and income. Thus, we will be able to test the generalizability from college students to the general American adult population. **References** Eibach, R. P., Libby, L. K., & Gilovich, T. D. (2003).
