Wiki Version:

Across a normative spectrum of Body Mass Index, I examine food as a potential stressor for women who are weight-concerned. Utilizing stage theories of appraisal, the project includes two in-lab studies (N = 250 each) to examine the neurological (ERP), physiological (HRV), psychological, and behavioral (caloric consumption) reactions to repeated exposure of palatable food cues in order to investigate how and to whom food may be appraised as stressful. In addition, participants are followed in a longitudinal (six-month) examination of in/effective coping strategies to the impacts of internalized weight stigma.
