Description: This document details the assumptions underlying the Cox proportional hazards modeling approach described by De Graaf, Ter Schure, and Van Liere (2021) in age-censored data with generational trends. The model fit is illustrated by full survival and hazard plots, that also serve as a description of the survey data set on Dutch adolescents in the past 25 years. We estimate the current (2020) debut age for sexual intercourse in this generation of young people at just over 18 years. de Graaf, H., ter Schure, J., & van Liere, G. A. (2022). How old are young people when they start having sex? Unravelling the applicability of Cox proportional hazards regression. Journal of Public Health, 30(8), 1873-1880.
