Description: Forthcoming at Nature Energy. This project was supported by the US Department of Energy (DOE) under contract no. DE-AC36-08GO28308. Our methods and analysis plan were preregistered with the American Economic Association’s RCT Registry (https://www.socialscienceregistry.org/trials/4114) The public data set includes 7,679 observations including the three prior super-referrers and the 7,676 observations used for our analyses. The additional outlier described in the paper was removed when the the original data set was converted to the anonymized public version.
