Wiki Version:
In this research, we introduce a case where the methodology of Shikakeology is used to improve the utilization rate of hand sanitizer dispenser. Shikakeology is an academic field that aims to realize a social system that "selfish behavior" results in “altruistic behavior” for society by means of "shikake". In other words, the shikake becomes an approach for solving social problems. In this research, we introduce a case of shikake using an analogy of "The Mouth of the Truth" because it triggers the action of putting a hand into the mouth. We set up a replica of Mouth of Truth at the entrance of the food court of a shopping mall. An automatic hand sanitizer dispenser is installed in the mouth of the replica, and disinfecting liquid is sprayed and disinfected in hand when putting in hands. Utilization rate when ordinary hand disinfector was installed was only 3%. However, when installing the Mouth of Truth disinfector, the utilization rate improved to 13%. From this result, it became clear that the shikake using an analogy of "The Mouth of Truth" is effective in improving the utilization rate of hand hygiene.
