Description: This ad-hoc session provides an introduction to Yale University Library’s Scaling Emulation and Software Preservation Infrastructure (EaaSI) program of work (funded by the Sloan and Mellon foundations). EaaSI is focused on improving and scaling the technological framework of the Emulation-as-a-Service (EaaS) model to expand access and use of preserved software. The project includes the development of numerous services that facilitate the application of emulation in digital preservation and access workflows. This includes the implementation of the EaaSI network, a distributed, community-driven architecture that supports the exchange of software and configured emulation environments between institutions. Presenters from Yale University Library and the Software Preservation Network will provide an overview of the the project’s goals and deliverables and engage attendees in open discussion regarding software emulation and the proposed roadmap for the EaaSI program.
