Description: Adverse childhood and adolescent experiences are associated with the emergences of psychopathology later in life and have negative consequences on white matter integrity. However, this adversity-induced white matter impairment remains not fully investigated. We explored this issue on a social defeat mouse model. Our results indicate that intermittent social defeat stress during adolescence induces myelin impairment in frontal cortex in early adulthood, but no alternation on oligodendrocyte lineage cells and suggest that up-regulated IL-1β may contribute to this negative consequence of adolescent social defeat stress.
