Description: Background and Aims: The subjective experience of drug craving is characterized by an overwhelming urge to consume substances. Due to strong validity and ease of utilization, self-report measures are widely employed to assess substance-related motivational dynamics. Multi-item questionnaires are increasingly favored in research for their ability to capture the multidimensional nature of craving. They provide valuable insights to inform clinical care and improve relapse risk prediction within clinical settings. This review aims to summarize craving self-report assessment tools registered in clinical trials and explore their methodological parameters.
