Wiki Version:
During forensic interviews, children are sometimes asked to identify certain objects that may have been involved in an alleged crime. However, little is known about children’s object recognition, especially after long delays. Following an approximate 10-month delay 51 children (Mage = 8) were shown photographs of seen and unseen objects from the original magic show and asked whether they previously saw that object. Results revealed that regardless of age, children performed above chance in correctly recognizing previously seen objects from the magic show (72% correct identification) as well as in correctly rejecting items that were not previously seen (92% correct).
