Description: Higher endogenous testosterone levels have been linked to preferences for utilitarian decisions (Carney & Mason, 2010). Testosterone is also associated with other variables related to moral judgement, i.e., low empathy, higher levels of trait psychopathy and decreased vmPFC activity, all of which have been linked to preferences for utilitarian decisions. However, in standard moral dilemma research, underlying utilitarian and deontological tendencies are impossible to disentangle since responses are usually scored in a single index. Here, we use the approach suggested by Conway and Gawronski (2013) to independently quantify underlying utilitarian and deontological inclinations. Furthermore, we will investigate the potential role of sex, menstrual cycle and oral contraceptive use in shaping associations between testosterone and moral decisions.
