Description: This teaching module introduces high school and college students to the economic principles shaping the global supply chain for electric vehicle (EV) battery minerals. Through independent research, data collection, and decision-making exercises, students analyze trade flows, production costs, and policy impacts using real-world data. Activities include sourcing minerals, calculating costs, evaluating trade incentives, and creating visualizations. Designed for self-guided learning with minimal instructor intervention, this 3–4-hour module develops skills in economic reasoning, supply chain analysis, and policy evaluation within the context of the clean energy transition.
