Imagine you are a manager at a large technology firm. You are overseeing an important new project and need to choose a team to assign to this project.
Your assistant has compiled a list of all teams at the company.
Only two teams could start soon enough to keep the project on schedule: Team A and Team B.
Then, they are randomly assigned to either the better or worse condition. In the beter condition, participants read:
Looking at your assistant’s profiles of each of these two teams, you see that your assistant has rated Team A as significantly more qualified than Team B.
In the worse condition, participants read:
Looking at your assistant’s profiles of each of these two teams, you see that your assistant has rated Team B as significantly less qualified than Team A.
Participants in all conditions then read the following questions [all questions on a -5 to 5 numbered scale with anchors at -5= Extremely unqualified, (1) 0= Middle of the pack (6), 5= Extremely qualified (11)]
