This repository contains original teaching materials created by Maggie Wagner and Camille Delavaux for the University of Kansas course BIOL701: "Microbiomes from Data to Insight" in spring 2020.

**Course Goals:**
Students will be able to:
- Develop workflows and pipelines for analyzing amplicon data •
- Process raw sequence data using bioinformatical tools on the command line
- Access and use a high-performance computing cluster
- Use R to perform statistical analyses and answer biological questions
- Understand how experimental design and analytical choices may affect results
- Critically interpret microbiome studies and their
conclusions in light of methodological strengths and limitations
**Prerequisites:** This course assumes a working knowledge of biostatistics (e.g. successful completion of BIOL841-Biometry I) and basic skills in Linux and R. Students should be able to complete the coding tutorials recommended in the "Tutorials and Useful References" component prior to the course.
