Description: Shared medical appointments, also known as group consultations, have been proposed as a new way of delivering care to people with long-term conditions in primary care. This research programme comprises three work packages that aim to examine the effectiveness, acceptability and feasibility of this model of care.
The programme of work examines the evidence around the use of shared medical appointments in primary care for patients with long term conditions. It comprises three workpackages:
- Systematic review of randomised control trials of SMAs
- Qualitative systematic review of patient, carer and practitioner experiences of SMAs in primary care
