Description: Experience sampling studies often prompt participants to rate how intensely they are feeling a set of pre-specified emotions. These rating tasks have supported key findings on emotional experience, individual differences, and mental health yet may not represent how people typically think about their feelings. In this project, we investigate an alternative approach in which participants were prompted to label their emotion with at least one word of their choosing.
