Wiki Version:
***EMOSE - EuroMarine Open Science Exploration*** ***EuroMarine*** is a [European marine science network][1] aiming to support the identification and initial development of important emerging scientific topics or issues and associated methodologies in marine sciences, as well as to foster new services relevant to the marine scientific community. EuroMarine funds the [2017 Edition of EMOSE][2]. ***The objectives*** of EMOSE are to (1) build capacity and train early career scientists using novel and innovative methods; (2) review current trends in marine science, leading to a publication; and (3) evaluate open science resources that could be adopted by EuroMarine as a generic service to its community. ***The concept*** of EMOSE is simple and community oriented. We propose to explore open science resources (e.g. open lab-books, open protocols, and virtual research platforms) and practices with a small group of early career scientists that conduct a well-defined study. The topic of the study is accessory to the concept of EMOSE, but it must be relevant to EuroMarine objectives and priorities. ***The methodology*** of EMOSE is to use/evaluate both open source and commercial (sponsored) open science resources with the participants during the entire life cycle of the inter-comparison study, i.e. from design to publication in open access. Open science is expected to improve access to all intermediate (even unsuccessful) research steps/outputs of the study, and is expected to speed-up the entire life-cycle of the study, i.e. from design to dissemination of research outputs.
