Description: This review examines the reporting and the influence of conditions in which preclinical glioblastoma in vitro cell line research takes places. We focus on the common U87 cell line model where we defined about 15 parameters like cell line authentification and details on culture media. In the course of this we will analyse if possible differences in these parameters lead to differences in the outcome of cell growth - once in the response to temozolimde (standard of care therapy of glioblastoma) and secondly in the growth without pharmacologic intervention. Our aim is to identify relevant parameters which could be responsible for insufficient reproducibility and to improve the preclinical brain cancer research with these findings.
