Wiki Version:
All participants are tested in a lab room at the German Sport University Cologne. There are two identical work spaces. Each work space is made up of a desk with a computer, a screen, a keyboard, and a mouse. Additionally, for both failure-of-awareness tasks (Study 1 & Study 2) we use a chin rest. The chin rest is adjustable in height and has a headband. Participants have a distance of 50 cm from the screen when the chin rest is used. Also, participants wear on-ear headphones (Logitech UE 4000) during the failure-of-awareness tasks of Study 1 and Study 2. The two work spaces are seperated by a room divider, so participants cannot see each other. For Study 2 we install a webcam on top of the computer screen (Logitech C270 USB HD Webcam) to online monitor participants' eye movements during the inattentional blindness task and to ensure that they are continuously fixating the center of the screen. **Computer** - Type: Esprimo 710 (Advanced) - Processor: Core i3-3220 (3.30 GHz) - Memory: 4 GB - Hard disk: HDD SATA III 500 GB 7.2k **Screen** - Type: Dell Professional P2412H - Size: 24" - Maximum resolution: 1920 x - 1080 Brightness: 250 cd/m2 - Contrast: 1000:1 /2000000:1 (dynamic) - Refresh rate: 60 Hz Speed: 5 ms
