Description: Implementation Mapping (IM) has become widely used in designing and tailoring implementation strategies to promote the effective translation of evidence-based interventions into practice. IM is a tool for guiding the systematic, iterative, step-by-step development of theory-based, evidence-informed implementation strategies. This systematic review will focus on studies that used IM to 1) develop implementation strategies, and 2) identify the mechanisms of implementation strategies. Lastly, we will examine the extent to which community engagement is used in the development of implementation strategies using IM. Peer-reviewed original articles that describe the use of Implementation Mapping or Intervention Mapping to design implementation strategies will be included. We will search Medline Ovid, PsycInfo, Embase, CINAHL, and Web of Science, using terms relevant to Implementation Mapping and Intervention Mapping. Reference lists of existing systematic reviews will be hand searched. Identified articles will be screened by two reviewers. This review will provide a comprehensive overview of studies that have used IM to design and/or tailor implementation strategies.
