Description: This qualitative study uses focus group methodology to explore the barriers and facilitators to assistant professors’ use of open science (OS) practices (preregistration, self-archiving, gold open access, and open data) in the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) in the USA. Two participant groups will be enrolled: (a) 12-20 assistant professors at R1 institutions, as per the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, and (b) 12-20 assistant professors in institutions not classified as R1 (e.g., R2, doctoral/professional universities). Perceived barriers/benefits of OS practices, past/desired OS training experiences, and the potential impact of OS on their career will be examined.
