Description: By means of transcranial direct current stimulation applied to the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex we investigated the causal role of this brain region for two facets of executive functions, namely working memory and interference control. In a between-subject design, we contrasted anodal and cathodal stimulation with a sham condition without stimulation and tested effects on performance in a Stroop task under stimulation as well as in an n-back test 15 minutes after stimulation ended.
