Description: The aim of this experiment is to test the hypothesis that high-confidence recognition misses and correct rejections do not have equal true memory strength (a form of Kelley’s paradox). After studying a word list, participants will complete a single-item recognition test in which they make old/new judgments to studied and new words on a confidence scale, followed by a 2-alternative forced-choice (2AFC) test in which the key trials pair high-confidence misses and correct rejections from the single-item stage.
