Description: This dataset provides historical information about Google and Apple’s app store charts, derived from archived web sources available in the Internet Archive Wayback Machine (archive.org/web/) until January 11, 2019 (at daily intervals). This information includes: (a) ‘Top Free’, ‘Top Grossing’, and ‘Top Paid’ Android apps and Games on Google Play (2013–2019) and (b) ‘iTunes Charts’ on Apple’s iTunes (App) Store (2010–2019). The dataset is one of the outcomes of the 11th 2019 Digital Methods Winter School and Data Sprint (DMI ’19) at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
