Wiki Version:
This project investigates how monolingual and bilingual children and adults acquire rhetorical questions (RQs) in German and Italian. We are interested in linguistic cues adults use to signal rhetoricity as well as whether children have access to these cues at all times of their linguistic development. Furthermore, since coding-strategies of RQs differ across languages, we investigate which coding strategies bilinguals use in their two languages and whether those differ from monolingual speakers.
