This is the project page for the manuscript 'A global cross-cultural analysis of string figures reveals evidence of deep transmission and innovation' by Kaaronen et al., 2024. The manuscript itself is available at OSF preprints: https://osf.io/preprints/osf/yxpg8 Contained within this project page are: - Dataset.xlsx, the entire dataset of string figures and Gauss codes used for analysis. - GaussCodeR.R, the GaussCodeR algorithm used for string figure analysis. - Analysis.R, the R code for quantitative string figure analysis. - Qualitative_analysis.xlsx, the dataset used for qualitative analysis (Supplementary Information 4). - Two readmes, Dataset_readme.txt and QCA_readme.txt, for the string figure dataset and qualitative analysis dataset, respectfully. - Figure 3.pdf, Figure 3 in higher resolution as a text-searchable PDF file. If it is laggy, try to read in PDF-XChange or browser. - txtfiles.zip, which contains .txt files of each string figure's Gauss code sequence. For any inquiries, contact roope.kaaronen@helsinki.fi.
