*About this talk:* This talk is part of the of the Humanities for STEM Symposium, which was held in Brooklyn, NY on April 6-7, 2018. This symposium was the culminating event of the research collaborative group Humanities for STEM: Using Archives to Bridge the Two Cultures Divide. The research collaborative was sponsored by a two-year grant (2016-2018) from the New York University Center for the Humanities. The group, which included teaching faculty, librarians, archivists, and graduate students from the New York/New Jersey area, sought to examine how the study of primary sources, archival research, and associated methodologies of the humanities can be used to enhance the understanding of science (including medicine), technology, engineering, and mathematics.
