Description: Recent literature on demonstration and pantomime suggests that they are more schematic than ordinary actions - demonstrators and pantomimers exaggerate and slow down represented actions in order to facilitate for the learner or receiver to perceive important features of these actions. The aim of the present study is to experimentally test using mo-cap technology whether demonstration and pantomime differ from ordinary actions (praxis) in these respects. We hypothesise that (i.) movements in demonstrations and pantomimes is lower than the velocity of praxic action movements and that (ii.) the volume of movements in demonstrations and pantomimes is bigger than the volume of praxic action movements.
