Wiki Version:
This is the OSF site of the ManyBabies project. If you are interested in the project in general, consider signing up for the ManyBabies listserv ([manybabies@lists.stanford.edu](https://mailman.stanford.edu/mailman/listinfo/manybabies)), and read the [ManyBabies theory paper](https://osf.io/27b43/), in which we discuss why collaborative data collection in Infancy research is important. ## **Project directory** ## [**ManyBabies 1: Infant Directed Speech Preference**][1] [**ManyBabies 2: Theory of Mind in Infancy**][2] [**ManyBabies 3: Rule Learning**][3] [**ManyBabies 4: Social Evaluation**][4] **ManyBabies 5: The Hunter & Ames Model of Infant Looking Preference** **ManyBabies AtHome: Online Infant Data Collection** **ManyBabies Demographics** ---------- ## **Project history and goals** ## ManyBabies started in November 2015, based on ongoing projects that illustrated the statistical power problem of developmental psychology. Further, little is known how power interacts with our limited knowledge about links between looking time and other variables, e.g. age, exposure to a stimulus, etc. These interlocking fields of ignorance could have really severe ramifications for infancy research. The first ideas were circulated, with the goal of clearing up some of these issues. From the start, the aim was to bring as many diverse labs together, conduct pre-registered replications of well established phenomena and explore the impact of multiple factors, including differences in set-up, infant age and population, and so forth. For more details, see this [blogpost by Michael C. Frank motivating the ManyBabies project.][8] After initial inquiries generated a positive response from a large group of researchers, a number of decisions were discussed and finalized until the project converged on the form of ManyBabies 1 in summer 2016. ---------- **Link descriptions:** MB1: [1]: https://osf.io/re95x/ MB2: [2]: https://osf.io/jmuvd/ MB3: [3]: https://osf.io/kqu9v/ MB4: [4]: https://osf.io/xe2pj/ Mike blogpost: [8]: http://babieslearninglanguage.blogspot.fr/2015/12/the-manybabies-project.html [1]: https://osf.io/re95x/ [2]: https://osf.io/jmuvd/ [3]: https://osf.io/kqu9v/ [4]: https://osf.io/xe2pj/ [8]: http://babieslearninglanguage.blogspot.fr/2015/12/the-manybabies-project.html
