Description: We collaborated with plant biologists and developed an online tool focusing on the cell lineage problem which is to rebuild the plant embryo’s developing history. Specifically, biologists would use this tool to pair cells that are divided from the same parent cell within an embryo in different time stages. In our tool, we involved the 3D cells for reference and machine learning algorithm to improve the workflow and thus increase the efficiencies. The purpose of our project is to evaluate the tool in terms of biologists’ preferences, comfortability, and potential insights they got from the tool. From our experiment, we plan to recruit several domain experts to learn and try out our online tool, collect their feedback to better understand the interaction with 3D and abstract data as well as to improve our design.
