Wiki Version:
Over a period of three years, Collections as Data: Part to Whole is funding and programmatically supporting two cohorts. Cohorts are comprised of project teams jointly led by librarians and disciplinary scholars. In total, 12 project teams are developing models that support collections as data implementation and holistic reconceptualization of services and roles that support scholarly use. Collections as data produced by project activity exhibit high research value, demonstrate the capacity to serve underrepresented communities, represent a diversity of content types, languages, and descriptive practices, and arise from a range of institutional contexts. This site gathers links to deliverables produced by [Collections as Data: Part to Whole][1] and its 12 institutional regrantees. Unless otherwise noted, all project materials are released under a CC-BY-NC-SA 4.0 license. **Team** Thomas Padilla, PI Hannah Scates Kettler, Co-PI Stewart Varner Yasmeen Shorish ---------- **Cohort 2** …And 25 of our closest friends: The Louisiana Digital Library as Community-Focused Data Louisiana State University Sophie Ziegler, Gina Costello, Leah Powell, Elizabeth Joan Kelly * [final report][10] * [sample tutorials][11] * [speaker series][12] Using Newspapers as Data for Collaborative Pedagogy: A Multidisciplinary Interrogation of the Borderlands in Undergraduate Classrooms University of Arizona Mary Feeney, Sarah Shreeves, Anita Huizar-Hernández * [final report][13] * [white paper - forthcoming] * [project page][14] * [subsequently funded project - Reporting on Race and Ethnicity in the Borderlands (1882-1924): A Data-Driven Digital Storytelling Hub][15] Images as Data: Processing, Exploration, and Discovery at Scale Harvard University and University of Richmond Carol Chiodo, Taylor Arnold, Lauren Tilton, Ardys Kozbial * [final report][16] LGBTQ+ Audio Archive Mining Project University of Wisconsin Milwaukee Ann Hanlon, Dan Siercks, Marcy Bidney, Cary Costello * [final report][17] * [project page][18] Surfacing hidden water data: Water, people, displacement in Southern California Claremont Colleges Jeanine Finn, Jessica Dávila Greene, Char Miller, Catalina Lopez * [final report][19] dLOC as Data: A Thematic Approach to Caribbean Newspapers Florida International University and University of Florida Miguel Asencio, Jamie Rogers, Perry Collins, Hadassah St. Hubert * [final report][20] **Cohort 1** "On the Books: Jim Crow and Algorithms of Resistance" University of North Carolina Chapel Hill María R.
