Description: We will assess the justice perception of university students with respect to an algorithmic versus human decision-making processes regarding the distribution of topics (and presentation dates) in seminars (see Ackigoz et al., 2020; Lee, 2018, for relevant prior studies). The research question is as follows: Do justice perception, trust, and emotional responses of students differ between algorithmic versus human decision-making and does the communicated decisional fairness (information on decisional fairness vs. no information) affect this? The experimental design follows a 2x2 between-subjects design including the factors decision-making agent (human vs. algorithm) and communicated fairness (information on decisional fairness vs. no information). The outcome variables/dependent variables are perceived justice, trust, outrage, and satisfaction. Additionally, we will assess how outcome favourability affects the corresponding relationships.
